About:

CAL POLY SHORT CUTS features 6 short films created by Cal Poly students under the mentorship of Randi Barros, ISLA Lecturer and independent filmmaker, and James Werner, Associate Professor of Art & Design. The films explore stories of love, loss, discovery and unexpected moments of connection.

From writing the scripts to filming the scenes, students of different majors have come together to bring their stories to life.

Venue:

Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, surrounded by lush vineyards, ranch land, and a 100-mile coastline, the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival (SLO Film Fest) is headquartered in the quaint, sophisticated downtown of San Luis Obispo on the spectacular Central Coast of California. As a premier 6-day annual event, the SLO Film Fest showcases contemporary and classic film screenings in a wide variety of venues. These range from the city’s classic art deco Fremont Theatre to the popular independent Palm Theatre, which now also hosts the newly established SLO Film Center showcasing independent film year-round.

Located in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, CA, the Fremont Theater is a historic movie theater, built in 1941. Throughout its early years it served both as a moving picture theater and a live entertainment venue. In the late 20th century, developers wanted to raze the building to install a new multiplex, but public outcry saved the theater. Full of rich, art deco charm, this theater has hosted everything from war bond shows to Adam Ant and Yes.
